An English photographer based in London his experiments with film began when he started photographing free party sound systems in the midlands whilst studying photography at university. He began playing with physical fabric of film and light in the darkroom to create lurid narratives for assignments with his vivid imagination, developed by watching cult cinema.
After graduating, he relocated to Brighton and read books by Elmore Leonard, Tom Wolfe, Jack Kerouac and Hunter S Thompson. Inspired, he developed a desire to transport a character from these pages into the realms of now, creating a travel ideal in his photography that looked both forward and back. He got a job working in a camera shop buying and selling used cameras, which gave him unlimited access to lenses and film he could only have dreamed of using at university. He continued cross-processing and using multiple exposure, then came across infrared film which, as few pro’s had informed him, was intended for aerial use but had been experimented with for a few rock n roll portraits in the 60′s, including Hendrix’s Are You Experienced album cover, shot by Karl Ferris. Intrigued, he loaded a roll into his Olympus OM2, screwed a wide angle adapter onto a 21mm lens which created a 8mm spherical fish eye lens and began shooting his ‘Eye Deal‘ series on the break of the millennium over a six year period around the world. Exhibited internationally; solo exhibitions include the Exposure Gallery (London), Soap Gallery (San Francisco), Blender Gallery (Sydney), Rare Art Gallery (Bangkok), Art House Gallery (Brighton).
His work has been reviewed and published in Flavor Pill Magazine San Francisco, Sydney Morning Herald, Guardian Guide, Brighton Latest, Australian Art Guide and as a cover sleeve for the official Burning Man festival DVD ‘Beyond the Black Rock’. Featured as a guest on Sydney’s FBI 94.5 FM.
